Icewind Dale | Ten Towns

Icewind Dale, a region housing Ten Towns, is an arctic tundra located in the Frozenfar region of the North. It earned its name from the harsh winds and icy storms that destroyed buildings and scoured the landscape.
Baseline information in regards to Icewind Dale can be found here.
Modifications to the actual lore include:   Before the Great War:
  • The evil Arveiaturace hears about a prophecy that mentions the uprising of dragons as the leading force of the world in 3 000 years. Believing herself to be the strongest dragon in all the land, one who could lead the dragons on their quest of vengeance, she seals herself in the Reghed Glacier using the Ancient Rime of the Frost Maiden, far below the Necropolis of Ythryn. The ritual destroyed Ythryn in the process, allowing the glacier to swallow whole this city that was built upon it. Using an ancient legendary god-touched artifact and a strange statue, Arveiaturace froze herself and brought the harshest winters the land had ever seen, the ones that made Icewind Dale known as the most cold, dangerous, unsuitable and unpredictable place for any being to live in.
  •   1479 after the Great War:
  • The War of the Eclipse has taken a toll on Ten Towns. The Moon goddess' followers rally in Bryn Shander and fortify the city. Rumors have it that their party has retrieved the Rime of the Frostmaiden and that they could use it to open the Reghed Glacier, allowing them to put their hands on a god-touched artifact, effectively allowing them to have a tremendous advantage in the war.
  • The Sun god's followers, unable to attack the heavily fortified Bryn Shander, decide to setup their troups in camps all around the glacier, unaware of where it could be opened. With both armies at a severe attacking disadvantage, due to the defensive positions and harsh weather, the war sits at a stalemate.
  •   1492 after the Great War:
  • Arveiaturace's slumber is disturbed by the Golden Company , which puts an end to the enchantment while on a mission to retrieve god-touched artifacts. Enraged by this affront, Arveiaturace engages head first the party on top of the Reghed Glacier. Eventually out-numbered, she falls to the blades and spells of the Golden Company. They carry her skull back to their keep, as a symbol of power for all to see. The rest of the mythical creature's body is dismembered and the various parts recycled into a variety magical components.
  • Completely exhausted after years in poor living conditions, the citizens of Bryn Shander put their hatred aside and peace rapidly finds its way back into the North, under the leadership of Commander Duvessa Shane.
