Najara

Najara, is a large kingdom in the Western Heartlands, currently inhabited by a wide variety of nagas, yuan-ti, and lizardfolk. It comprises parts of the High Moor, the Forest of Wyrms, and the Marsh of Chelimber, with the Serpent Hills lying in the center. Not operating as a typical state, its status as a kingdom is a disputed subject.
Baseline information in regards to Najara can be found here.
Modifications to the actual lore include:     Since as long as anyone can remember:
  • The country is comprised mainly of thick jungles where surviving is almost impossible.
  • Najara does not get involved into politics, unless it really benefits its interest in a major way. This does not bother the neighboring countries, since Najarians are known for being cunning, deceitful and selfish. They have a long history of treachery and genocides, making them an ally too dangerous to have anyway.
  • Nagas, which are few in comparison to their yuan-ti followers, are the official leaders of the country, but the law of the jungle is strongest amongst Najarians and one dies quickly without a lot of survival instinct.
  • Nagas are considered to be direct descendants of Zehir.
  •   1460 after the Great War:
  • The naga known as Serpent Lord Ebarnaje dies and is entombed in the mythical Tomb of the Serpent, a place of traps and suffering born out of Ebarnaje's twisted paranoid mind.
  • Jarant rises as the new Serpent Lord.
  •   1489 after the Great War:
  • Najara mysteriously accepts to join the war effort without asking for anything in return, except for a steady supply of troops.
  • No nagas or yuan-tis are sent to fight in the War of the Eclipse, instead forcing the ''lower races'' (lizardfolk and other reptilian creatures) into a battle for which they have nothing to gain. Any resistance is met with unrelenting force.
  •   1493 after the Great War:
  • It is revealed that the Serpent Lord Jarant traded a legendary artifact, the Gloves of Moradin, in exchange of another: Zehir's lipstick. He did this trade with Iggwilv, also promising her that the armies of Sehanine would get a steady supply of troops for the War of the Eclipse. Lord Jarant kept the artifact jealously for himself.
  • Geryon, the once arch-devil of Stygia sees an opportunity in Jarant's greed. Using both his might and his ruse, he captures the Serpent Lord Jarant and convokes the people of Ss'thar'tiss'ssun, Najara's capital, to the agora above the tomb of the Serpent. There, the nagas and yuan-tis saw Geryon, ready to perform a sacrificial ritual. This ritual would include the destruction of three things: Zehir's lipstick, which Geryon claim was ''corrupted by greed'', the body of Ebarnaje and the still living Serpent Lord Jarant. In a convincing speech, Geryon rallied the support of the serpent kingdom, promising them to restore their greatness and lead them out into the world. That, at his side, they could conquer the material plane and eventually, the Nine Hells. Geryon's speech was interrupted by the sudden arrival of the Golden Company . After an arduous battle, the group eventually succeeded in defeating the arch-devil. As Geryon's soul was leaving for the Nine Hells, it got captured by Aoth, one of the Golden Company's fighters. This soul was immediately sent to the Debt Collector .
