Divine Magic

The Most Blessed Form of Power

Originating from the power of the Gods domains, many consider Item Magic to be a holy power already. If that is the case, Divine Magic is a step beyond even that, as the magic that may belong to another God is turned into that which the user holds the closest devotion to.

The Hidden Power of Item Magic

Item Magic is a form of magic that comes from a set of items blessed by each God, one for every God. Each one is representative of a domain that the God presides over and thinks represents them well.   They are as follows:
    Athena by Jarhed
  • Phrixus's Shield Magic
  • Papatūānuku's Beast Magic
  • Mimir's Soul Magic
  • Tohil's Sword Magic
  • Sia's Prediction Magic
  • Amukk's Binding Magic
  • Tsukuyomi's Poison Magic
  • Izanagi's Time Magic
  • Leigong's Strength Magic
  • Morrigan's Death Magic
  • Nergal's Deconstruction Magic
  • Athena's Structure Magic
  • Fortuna's Luck Magic
  • Mayowa's Art Magic
  • Chernobog's Demon Magic
  • Selene's Copy Magic
  • Helle's Mind Magic
  • Kadakalan's Life Magic
  • Erra's Food Magic
  • Irkalla's Curse Magic
  • Ishtar's Dream Magic
  • Ninatta's Music Magic
  • Hadur's Weapon Magic
  • Satanael's Devil Magic
  • Nyx's Shadow Magic
  • Tartarus's Capture Magic
  • Morrigan by Jarhed
  • Janus's Portal Magic
Divine Magic, then, can only be created by someone who wields one of these powers, alongside, of course, a God or Goddess.   But each Item can only be held by one person at a time. They bind to a single user, and only unbind when that wielder dies. Due to this, some Items never unbind, particularly Life and Death Magic.   The same holds true for Divine Magics, which unbind only after death.

Divine Mutation

But how does Item Magic change into Divine Magic? The answer is a blessing and dedicated worship.   After one has begun to wield Item Magic, it is possible that they may approach their particular God or Goddess. In many cases, one should either be an Archpriest or Champion of the Gods, and be representative of one of their domains.   It is also, generally, not right to go to the God whose Item it is that you wield, as they generally do not want to change what they already view as "perfect."   However, a God can change other Items, blessing them and overwhelming them with their own divine power through the wielder instead of the Item itself. For they do not actually change the Item. When the wielder of Divine Magic dies, it turns back into its original form of Item Magic.   But when wielded by that particular person who was blessed, it changes into what their God or Goddess wills it to be.

Users

There have been very few recorded cases of Divine Magic, and the era it is most notable was the 550s, when there were two users of Divine Magic. They were:
  • Briffault Law- Head Priestess of the Church of Athena, she initally gained Curse Magic, but transformed it into Law Magic to better serve her Goddess.
  •
  • Vodron Nutsk- Former Court Wizard of Timar Forestarm, he initially wielded Luck Magic, but transformed it into Fate Magic to better serve his purpose as Morrigan's Guardian of Fate, guiding the fate of the world onto its correct course.
Coincidentally, the two were related, as Briffault was Vodron's aunt. They were, however, not blood related, and only met once in their lives, as she was one of the Priests that officiated his wedding.   Even in the cases where these two gained Divine Magic, it was not a well-known fact, and most people still believed they simply wielded Item Magic. Most are not even aware that there is such a thing as Divine Magic.
