Dresmorlin Cobath, however, had other plans. He had no particular allegiance to anyone, especially after discovering his wife's infidelity, but he did still care for his sister,
Meiriris Nerifir.
Meiriris Nerifir by Jarhed
So, Dresmorlin did not directly aid Meiriris, but he covertly made her aware of what Mimir was planning and some of his secrets. He set the dominoes in place for the storm that would follow: the Holy Rebellion.
Meiriris rallied the Elves and, with the help of Amukk God Breaker, the Orcs as well. Following Meiriris, the group consisted mostly of Elves, and while the Orcs battled Satanael, Meiriris and the Elves defeated Mimir largely through outsmarting him and convincing him to flee of his own volition. This granted Meiriris legitimacy to rule, as she took his
Scarlet Crown and
Sage Scepter.
Creation of Changelings
Mimir's next major interference in history is one that few are certain was actually him. Some attribute it to
Mayowa, or the magic of the fairies of
Shafai.
Whatever the case, it began appearing in the city of Camor, once the home of Mimir. People disappeared and soon returned different. When they were killed, their true forms were discovered. Shapeshifters... changelings.
A great fear overtook the Elves in Camor, and they began hunting these Changelings, fearing what they existed for. Some say that the blame being pinned on Mimir is to excuse the violence that was shown to Changelings, and that the idea that they could shapeshift to steal peoples lives and learn secrets was just an unfounded fear that came from the unknown. Others, of course, swear that it had to have been an evil ploy from Mimir to steal back the golden city of Camor.
No matter what, it is said that Mimir does grant blessings to Changelings, as he likes the way they can hide themselves in a crowd and considers them to be the mortal representation of secrecy that he wanted from Dresmorlin Cobath.
Sia by Jarhed
The Goddess of Knowledge and Her Demon
Mimir has clashed many times with the Goddess of Knowledge,
Sia, who is called the enemy and rival deity of Mimir.
Sia's libraries are often stolen from by Mimir, and the only time priests of Mimir appear in the world to people is to directly contradict or fight back against knowledge spread by Sia and her priests.
While Sia wishes to spread knowledge, Mimir hoards it instead. Due to this, the two fight regularly, and it is said that before most Gods were confined to their holy sites, they would regularly duel. Each time, it is believed that Mimir would be driven back into hiding after Sia gained the support of mortals who would aid her in battle, while Mimir denied help as it would require him to share secrets of his plans and powers or to show what he could do in front of mortals who would not keep the secret.
Regidagonus by Yumedatchi
Due to this, his full power has never been seen, and some claim him to be one of the strongest Gods.
However, Sia is not his only rival. Mortal hosts of
Demon Lords claim there is one Demon who is alligned with the Gods rather than the Demons.
This Demon Lord is known as Regidagonus, the Evil of the Unknown, who represents what mortals do not know. He opposes Mimir, and in a theoretical conflict between Demons and Gods, he is said by some to seek siding with Heaven. Those whose bodies he inhabits finds that Regidagonus spreads secrets and lets the hosts know of what Mimir seeks to hide.
For this, Mimir sends his followers to slay Regidagonus's hosts when they make themselves known. Regidagonus, then, must keep his presence a secret despite detesting secrets, and often seeks the help of Sia to shelter him, or inhabits a powerful host to withstand Mimir's assassination attempts.
Expedition Beyond the Tides
No mortal has ever survived a voyage far south in Totania. The furthest anyone has been is Shafai, but boats seeking to go south past Shafai, or even anywhere near that latitude any further east or west, is said to be wrecked immediately.
A naval captain of a Kamejin ship from the
Abral Islands once set out, swearing this had to be the doing of Mimir and saying that it was almost guaranteed that Mimir's temple was somewhere south of the known world. This captain, Kojima Yūko, believed her theory to be more than just conjecture, and wanted to prove it.
Satanael by Jarhed
With a fleet behind her, she traveled south, believing the naval might of the Abral Empire could protect her. Most Gods that were consulted about the plan, including Mimir's former ally Satanael, said it would be fruitless even if it was true.
"It is not a terrible theory, she speaks of the only possible way one can get to the answer.
One cannot learn from Mimir, but if one wants an answer from the God of Secrets, they need only look at what is unexplained and piece together what remains.
However, seeking the answer from that will only result in tragedy. A shame... she was rather intelligent."— Satanael
The fleet never returned. Some say it was torn apart by storms, some say it was infighting and mutiny from Yūko leading the crew astray, and others say Mimir acted against her. Perhaps the fleet still exists, theorize some, somewhere alongside Mimir's temple.
The Trials of Myrine
Mimir's role in the
Age of Heroes is best defined in the myth of the Trials of Myrine, the demigod child of
Ishtar.
A foundational story of the city-state of
Alzirgos, as well as the city of Stallbourne, it tells of a demigod who sought godhood, and the coalition of Gods that opposed this. A group, led by Morrigan, that included Sia, Satanael, and Mimir.
Myrine by Jarhed
This group proposed a series of trials for Myrine to attempt, and if she could succeed in all of them, she would become a God. They did not believe it possible to win at one, let alone all, of the trials.
Mimir was a background player in much of the myth, the plotting god who tricked Myrine into thinking he would suggest a trial of knowledge. Instead, however, he surprised her by challenging her to wrestle him, knowing his divine power was greater than hers.
However, Myrine tricked him, agreeing that there were differences between a mortal and a God, and that she had a secret only she knew that she could share with him if he gave up. Tantalized, he agreed, only for her to respond with:
"The secret is that I shall take your place as a God when these trials are complete."— Myrine
Agastrophos was still the one behind all other trials, and after being scorned by Myrine, made them even more challenging. Ultimately, Myrine died on the final trial, falling from a tower on her climb to Heaven and creating a crater that would become the lake within Stallbourne. Mimir then vanished into history once more, hoping to never have to act in such a prominent way again.
For this myth, he is called one of the first villains of the Age of Heroes.
