How to read Traeon's Twilight
In this world, the fabric of existence is woven by the celestial threads of three divine beings—each shaping the destiny of the cosmos. Iaoth the Creator, Ophiel the Destroyer,, and an enigmatic force known only as The Cosmic Balance. This trinity governs The Cycle of Aeons—an eternal loop of creation, destruction, and rebirth that defines the essence of magic and the rhythm of life itself.
Traeon is a setting where the themes of cyclical creation, destruction and rebirth are ever present. The duality of good versus evil is also important, but the more important premise of the setting is that of balance in all things.
The seals holding the Destroyer, Ophiel in check crumble under the strain of his burgeoning power. His followers, the Ophielites, scheme in shadows, orchestrating chaos to hasten their master’s liberation. The land bleeds from wars and political intrigue, while prophecy foretells the Destroyer's catastrophic return.
There is a plethora of conflicting beliefs, value systems and interests in Traeon, all of which must eventually be set aside in the face of complete destruction. The world is not prepared to face what is coming, but there is still hope.
As you step into this world, you find yourself not merely as wanderer or treasure-seeker but as a pivotal figure in a grand tapestry that might either unravel or be rewoven anew. The balance of power shifts with every decision, every alliance or rivalry. From deconstructing the Ophielites' dark schemes to unearthing ancient artifacts that could tilt the scales towards salvation or doom, your journey is one of epic proportions.
