Odawara Castle
Unassailable
A towering monument to the architectural prowess of the Hōjō Clan. Odawara Castle sprawls out on all sides, forming a complex that is more a city than a single castle. The main building towers over everything for miles, scraping the sky atop walls like sheer cliffs. It's said to be the greatest castle in Japan and is larger even than the Palace of the Firebird, which was built by demonic hands. Odawara is both a symbol and lynchpin of the Hōjō Clan's power. With such a powerful strategic position to retreat back to, and the means to do so nearly instantly, the clan's forces are able to act with relative impunity despite their inferior military might.
Although the fortifications and general structure of the castle have been present on this ground for over a century, it was Hōjō Ujiyasu and his multitudinous daughters who built it into the impenetrable stronghold that it is now known as. Some few armies have already attempted to siege Odawara, but have all failed. The unassailable walls and sniping positions are only two of many cunning mechanisms to reroute and slay intruders. Many believe a direct assault on the fortress to be impossible, and would-be attackers must try more unconventional approaches to breach its walls.
