The Tanuki's Secret

With Utmost Discretion

A discreet establishment nestled within the sprawl of dwellings and scattered businesses that roll away from Odawara Castle. The Tanuki's Secret prides itself on providing an unassuming location where sensitive topics can be discussed with the utmost secrecy. Split into several chambers that can be rented at a moment's notice, the most expensive of its rooms even boast mystical enchantments that ensure no sound escapes, or encourage its occupants to only speak the truth.   The Secret's proprietress is one Uemura Ayasa. Uncommonly for many yōkai, she made her fortunes abroad, then returned to Japan and invested it in her own establishment. That, at least, is characteristic of Bakedanuki, who can often be found tending establishments from restaurants, to bars, to parlors like the Secret. Ayasa skillfully manages a long list of important clients who make use of her rooms often, but not exclusively, to meet with agents of the Hōjō Clan. The Secret and Ayasa herself are unaffiliated with any power, however. It's quite possible, even, that more than one plot against the lords of Sagami has been discussed within its clandestine walls.
