"Who?" -Ryūzaki Sanosuke
The Autobiography of Shōta:
Shota, a charming, attractive, and the most misunderstood man from the province of sdkdjdskjdfs has a heart of gold and would do anything for his family, and the few people he calls his friends. Despite all of the hardships life has thrown his way, he has remained optimistic and loyal to his mother and sister despite his father leaving them when he was young. Due to his hatred for his father and the way he acted when he was around Shota finds himself butting heads with people in power who are overly bossy and full of themselves. Shota may seem rough on the exterior but he is a very caring and loveable person once someone gets to know him.His Sad, Sad Childhood:
The last words his father told him as he left were forever imprinted into his heart. "I can't believe your mother gave birth to a pair of losers like you two." His father, completely deflecting any blame or responsibility for his words looked Shota in the eyes, after telling his father to take what he said about his sister back, his father laughed. "I tell ya what kid, you make a name for yourself, and then find me and maybe I'll acknowledge you kids and your mother, I expect I'll be well dead by then though" And with a booming laughter his father turned his back on his family and was never seen again. The Early Years:
Being the protective brother he is, Shota never said a word to his sister about his encounter, opting to say their father had died. With their father out of the picture the family soon began to collapse as their mother couldn't keep a job, and resorted to other means to get money, though it was never enough. Feeling a sense of responsibility for his family, Shota soon took up with a group of ruffians when he was 10 and resorted to learning dealings with the underground, committing petty crimes to help his family along. Though Shota was never the most skillful at these acts, he had a knack for his words, finding his solace in the art of deception with words, rather than actions. Shota would then spend the next seven years doing nonsensical and mundane crimes for scraps, and during that entire time he never told his family what he was doing as to keep them out of trouble. On a day unlike any other he came home from "working" to find his sister bed ridden and burning up, his mother at the side of her bed trying to find out whats wrong with her. With almost no money to their name, there was no way they could afford to get medicine. Shota became grief stricken and left his house to find someone that could help. Making a deal with some people he knew, Shota was able to get a man trained in curing various illnesses to go and look at his sister, the man told Shota that he had never seen anything like this and it was above his skill offering only a small bundle of herbs that the man said would help the fever. With all this happening Shota was given an ultimatum either continue doing what he was doing and slowly watch his sister die of a sickness they couldn't afford to get treated, or take a risk and try and find the big haul somewhere in Japan.Leaving His Family:
Telling his family he was going to seek a medicine man out that could help he had promised he would be back as soon as he could. His mother and sister didn't understand and told him to stay, but Shota knew he had to do this. With nothing but the mismatched clothes on his back, and a sack of spoiled rice, he began to leave the village. Before he could make it past the gate his partner in crime, Shouta, came to see him off and told him how dumb Shota was for deciding to leave without a weapon to help persuade people, he handed him a set of family heirloom samurai weapons, he won from someone. Thinking of Shouta as a big brother he never had, he thanked him for the gesture. After he putting them into his belt, and looking like a full fledged samurai he began walking to wherever the path took him. Despite Shota's protests, Shouta kept following him as well, telling Shota " I do what I want" Shouta ended up being an essential part of Shota's plan to get money for his family, as he always seemed to have a contact or two in any town they went to, and were able to get money sent to his family. After a while he made a deal with someone for some new footwear in return for the rice. However, after making the deal and putting his new found footwear he felt faint and then next thing he knew he was in the dark in an unknown place, a place he soon found out was the province of Omi, and his friend Shouta was nowhere to be found. The Big Haul:
On his own he began talking to the locals in the more shadier sides of towns trying to piece together what had happened, he found out a few months had passed by without him realizing it nor could he remember anything. Going with the flow he decided to continue his search for the big haul, and that was when he found out about the Mori Tournament, from what he was told and what he knew of those types of activities, the prize was usually large sums of money. He found out that the Daimyo here was going to be attending, During his investigation he heard hushed murmurs of some drug, but that was all he could find out about it. Preparing his plan of attack he decided to get a meeting with the Daimyo and accuse him of dealings with this drug, and blackmail him into getting into the tournament under the Daimyo, cause, to Shota, no one could be as saintly as this Aotsuki Tsukamoto seems to be, everyone has a dark secret. Shota of course, did have ulterior motives to going to this tournament, if he won it, maybe then he could rub that in his fathers face if he ever saw him again..His First Fight:
After being made fun of and ridiculed by Aotsuki for not knowing the things that were apparently common knowledge, Aotsuki had pressing matters to deal with and taking this opportunity Shota decided to join Aotsuki to prove his worth. When they made it to their destination, Shota couldn't believe what his eyes saw, hundreds of crazed men were ready to fight them. While taking care of more than half the enemies himself, Shota realized Aotsuki was slowly getting overwhelmed. With Shota's eagle eyes he was able to see a lethal attack about to fall upon Aotsuki, and with his quick wits and selfless personality he dashed out pushed Aotsuki out of the way, taking the full brunt of the attack himself, instantly knocking Shota out. A short while later he came to his senses and noticed Aotsuki's allies must have shown up to help, next to him a woman was getting over taken by several enemies. Maybe she reminded him of his sister, perhaps it was his kind nature, but he mustered up the last of his strength and defeated the last of the foes around the woman, saving her from likely death. After the battle ended Shota went to Aotsuki and expected numerous praises for his hard work, however what happened next was the most ridiculous thing he had ever witnessed, Aotsuki had accused him of getting knocked out right at the beginning of the fight, and then trying to take credit for all the kills Musashibo Benkei had done. After some arguing back and forth, Benkei, who apparently has an eye for quality swords, wanted to duel Shota for his sword, but with desperation in his heart, he told her she could have his katana after the tournament was over, if he could enter with her. She Agreed. And with that, after some pilfering of weapons, Shota soon left the group to go and find his way to the tournament.. where he would shortly meet an unlikely friend and get caught up in a plot that would soon change his life forever.Mental characteristics
