Record Densities of Fish Measured in Ago Bay

Following the drama which unfolded at Ago Manor last night, a record number of fish were discovered schooling in the bay outside of Ago Harbor this morning. Locals believe this to be a gift from Repun Kamui, an indigenous god of the sea. In combination with a whale which beached itself around midnight, Ainu priests are claiming that Lord Maxim has earned the favor of native gods.

Notable support for Lord Maxim has come from Wakigami Castle as well. Although he had signed the original order instating Shax, Magistrate Tōdaisen Nobuhara walked the decision back this morning, claiming a “clerical error.” By his order and with support of the still-absent Daimyō, Lord Maxim will resume his post today as lord of The Wolfpack and Bugyō of Shima Province.   We at the Akegata Shinbun recognize that our previous article on the subject may have read as somewhat sensationalist. The reporter responsible has been shifted to work on a different project for the current time. Our organization thanks you for your understanding.   Priest Harukor, who is a bear, provided us with this statement regarding Lord Maxim:   “Can’t you see that the land is aching under the influence of these Demons? They are not meant to be here. The rifts are like wounds in the earth itself. Lord Maxim was instrumental in the closing of one such rift, and he slayed a fiend when she seized control over our ancestral lands. It’s no wonder that the Kamui favor him.”   Encounters with the Amatsukami, gods of Japan and ancestors of the Imperial line, are well documented. However, very few individuals have ever reported encountering a Kamui, native gods of the indigenous Ainu people. Popular support has been growing for the religion of late, which has some Shinto priests concerned.   Whether this religious revival has any basis in fact or not, the fact remains that Shima Province is currently enjoying an unprecedented level of prosperity. Fishermen are flocking to Ago Port in order to take advantage of the historical catches. Until the schools are depleted, the region and its reinstated lord can expect to enjoy record levels of profits and trade.
