Humans
"The races of men, Humans, Mankind" all those terms describe the species homo sapiens sapiens.
"One of the most, if not the most common species of sapient humanoids are the Humans. For reasons, not yet fully understood they can be found on all continents, in almost any habitat and have been able to survive all hazards, threats and catastrophic events to this day.
They have prospered someplace and clung on elsewhere, various Human cultures have risen and declined, yet throughout history, they have spread."

Humans are in all honesty the most un-spectacular of all humanoid species. They are not especially big, tough, intelligent, fast or feature any other extreme. Except one. Humans are the most adaptive of all known humanoids. Be it climate, environment, or any other challenge, humans have found a way to adapt via tools, mentally and culturally to every place they have set foot upon and then they thrive. They make do with almost nothing and with riches, they live in the high mountains and the lowlands. The ingenuity displayed by this species is truly staggering.
Humans, in general, are nothing special but they have a fair amount of notable individuals in all fields, goldsmiths who astonish the dwarven peoples with their art or scholars surpassing even the oldest dracons in reasoning.
