The Chronos

The Chronos is an interdimensional bubble. The young Knowledge Liasion Officer Mimi Lakes has written an article on her remembered experience of visiting the Chronos for the City of the Depths. It is located in a hidden location in Belacoushe in the Underground. Sarah Greetz, also known as the 'Technology Fairy' is the current owner of the Chronos.

Significance

Forbiddings are completed by the cooperative ritual between all members of The Council of Turien (see We Forbid You as an example of the first Forbidding to ever take place in Turien). With a Forbidding comes an element of forced forgetting. Sometimes, what is forgotten is known (e.g. blueprints of a certain weapon - it is known what the blueprints are for, but the specifics of the design are permanenty unknown) but other times everything about it is forgotten (e.g. what happened to the Seconf Generation of Fairies, or was it the First Generation?). However, that only works in Turien. Once in a different dimension, one from Turien may remember what was forgotten (it is not guaranteed, but is a possibility). Alternatively, what is written down may be kept outside in a different dimension (e.g. blueprints will have all specifics shown when outside of the the dimension (realm) Turien is in).
A forbidding has set boundaries. Not that they are always known nor provided in the initial ritual. Once a Forbidding has been completed, certain things are forgotten, and/or certain laws (physics/magics) of the world are taken away. There are those who set out to find what the limitations of these boundaries are. For example, a bluepint for a certain weapon may be unattainable, but how closely to that weapon can another be made? It is the magic that powers it that it the boundary? Is it the shape? The material? Thus, wartimes often have more Forbiddings in a short period of time than any other time in Turien's history.
The Chronos houses as many records of things that have been Forbidden or could be Forbidden in the future. It is a repository of knowledge hidden from view. As it was built under a Fairy's guidance, and watched over by a Fairy family (as Fairies can live forever as long as they keep with their Source Tree and are not killed they understand the workings of the Chronos and can keep it hidden more effectively than if it changed hands over time).

Goals of the Fairy Family

Besides hiding from the Council of Turien and anyone else who'd like to steal their knowledge or otherwise cause them harm, the Fairies of the Chronos have three main gaols:
  1. Reverse Forbiddings in order to create the 'One Magic'
  2. Create a bridge to travel to different Realms
  3. Create an unmatched knowledge repository

The Fairy Family

It is said that the Fairies of Aunt May's bloodline have extra abilities that manaifest through their magic. For example Chad's parents were able to see into other realms when they visualised together. With this ability, they were able to recreate a number of weapons that could then be magically enhanced during the 3rd - 5th Magic Wars. They went missing after the 5th Magic War and are presumed dead. Chad's daughter Nada Eyles is able to step into other realms. The reason her ability is more powered than her grandparents is thought to be because of her Dryad magic (particularly as she is Daphne's (a Dryad Source Tree) daughter) and that her generation seems to have more powerful magic manifestations than the previous few generations. Why this is the case is unknown.
Chad's parents, Spike and Gretel Eyles, as well as his half sister Sarah Greetz are the Fairy family that owns the Chronos. They are affiliated with Whispers in the Dark and use the Chronos to forward their goals. Chad and Nada have no relation to the Chronos as yet.
