Personal history

Seraphina Nightshade was a highly renowned mage and scholar. She was born in a small town in the territory now known as Lekroné in the year 112. Ever since she was a child, Nightshade exhibited magical abilities that no one else in the town had. In order to make sure that her abilities would be trained and be used responsibly, at age 14, she was sent off to the great city of Noirveau, where she would soon be taken under the wings of a small mage circle that worked with the city's established university. There, she would develop an insatiable hunger for knowledge of everything related to magic, the supernatural, and the arcane.   It's important to note that up until the 4th century, magical knowledge was highly untamed and esoteric. Different areas and groups had their own ideas, theories, and practices regarding magic. Due to their secretive nature, trying to learn magic in order to become a wizard was only possible through family connections. Nightshade would soon be the one to overturn that practice. After 6 years of rigorous training, Nightshade would begin her adventures across Darnolia. Using her graduation gift of a broom of flight, she flew thousands of miles, visiting anywhere that would accept her.    Throughout her journeys, Nightshade would write down in a book of all the observations she saw. When magic was shown to her, she would write down whatever coven/circle's theories and practices were. She had to do this in secret, as she knew very well that magical theories and practices were secrets that only inside members could gain full access to. In some instances, her thirst for knowledge led to her doing some questionable things in order to acquire knowledge that she would normally be denied of. At one point, a circle of witches nearly had her head when she was caught secretly trying to note down their recipes and processes.   10 years of adventuring later, Nightshade would eventually return back to Noirveau's university. There, she would begin sifting through and compiling the best of her notes into what would become the quintessential "Mage's Manifesto." The final product, after 2 years of constant work, would be known as the Tome of Radiant Arcana. This 400-page manifesto contained information regarding all sorts of magical and mystical topics. From elemental magic, potioncraft, transmutation, and beyond, this single book had so much high-quality information that no other magic sect could ever even think of. Now her only wish was to have the book be published internationally.   After much trouble of trying to get the book be published, as well as needing to deal with threats of blackmail from supposed "victims of knowledge theft," the Tome of Radiant Arcana would slowly become the go-to textbook for magic classrooms all across the continent. However, even after acquiring such reputation, Nightshade's mission was still not done. From then until the end of her life, Nightshade would frequently travel to-and-from locations to re-learn and specialize in writing more specific information. For the next 50 years, Nightshade would go on to publish 5 more books, each of which specialized in a particular field of magic. Those books would also become ubiquitous in academic usage.    To this day, Seraphina Nightshade's importance to the world of magic academia is still celebrated by mages and scholars to this day. Without her, magic would've been as secretive as the families that used them. And untamed/unregulated magic would've been the bane of civilization. Her contributions to magical education is what allowed her soul to be kept in the legendary Hall of Heroes.

Education

Seraphina Nightshade was highly educated. She learned magic not only from her Lekronese university, but also from the multitudes of magical families, covens, and sects that she encountered during her travels.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Nightshade's greatest achievement would be her contributions to magic academia. Her Tome of Radiant Arcana set the gold standard for what magical education and information should be. This, along with her several other published works, was what made her such a well-known individual in Darnolia Alt's history.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Nightshade always believed that magic is something that shouldn't be kept away by separate families and sects. She believes that if more people can learn about the capacities of magic, the more likely the people will be wary on how to protect themselves from a potential rogue mage. This was the reason why she worked so hard in order to get her works published. Academia needed a standardized set of high-quality information to teach to aspiring mages.
