Akehill

Akehill was originally founded to support the Akehill monastery - an important pilgrimage site since before even the imperium came to the Free Cities. Situated on an important crossroads, the settlement grew fat on the trade flowing through it, swallowing up a number of nearby settlements before eventually establishing itself as one of the primary settlements comprising the Draketail League. The city suffered a series of setbacks in the early 10th century culimating in the city's total sack by Taltan forces in FA916. Since the sack, and the subsequent Taenic victory over the Taltans, Akehill has bounced back rapidly and begun an intense period of rebuilding - funded largely by the heavy reparations foisted upon the Taltan throne but also through extensive regional and foreign investment. Akehill in 967 is a city once again on the rise, though many of its citizens still living in squalor in the ruined western sections might disagree on how much this influx of money has actually helped them.
