Sainthood

Saints are beings of immense power that are capable of several divine feats. There is always one Saint on Tyras- if the current Saint dies or ascends, a new Saint will be born at the moment of death or ascension. Saints can be of any race or nationality, and The Cometfall Theocracy spends much of its political power ensuring that the Saint is always brought to Theopolis.

Saints come into their power around puberty. Each Saint manifests five powers, the ability to grow to immense proportions, the ability to augment their magics or their physical strength, the ability to speak with previous Saints, the ability to create objects at will, and a fifth ability which is unique to the individual Saint. This fifth ability always starts unknown and is a subject of intrigue to The Faithful. It often manifests as a reflection of the Saint's personality and inherent power.

Every 100 years the current Saint must ascend to Godhood through a ritual at Theopolis in order to stave off an apocalypse. Only one Saint was known to miss their scheduled ascension, Saint Ignacia, who's corpse now sits along the tallest mountain in Tyras, Ignacia's Rest.
