The Cometfall Theocracy

Cometfall Theocracy Theme:
The white marble towers and the golden spires of the Theocracy's capital, Theopolis (pictured above), stand proudly on the floating remains of a comet above Lake Ganymede. The streets of Theopolis are immaculate, scrubbed daily to a delicate shine that reflects the warm glow of the sun and firelight alike.. Theopolis is considered the most powerful single city in all of Tyras, with the decisions made by its Saint eventually affecting the entire continent. As the largest wealthy nation, it has ongoing border disputes with almost every neighboring faction. The Cometfall Theocracy is currently fighting in the War of Three Giants, where they, the Hakgu Horde, and Yuan-Ti Empire are all in conflict over strategic territories of value to the ethos of their respective peoples. The eponymous Disputed Lands has been ravaged by all three factions in this war.
People of the Theocracy
Though zealous adherence to laws is expected, the Faithful enjoy relative comfort compared to the rest of Tyras. Mild weather, abundant, diverse and nutritious foods, as well as economic security affords the populace to happily fall in line with the demands of the Triarchs and Saint. The reigning Saint would have claim to the Cometfall Throne in Theopolis, while the majority of affairs are managed by a Triarchy. Each Triarch rules one of the great cities of Lake Ganymede below the comet: Megaris, Antiokheia and Pergamon. The Triarchy only bow to the Gods and their Saint, together maintaining strict control over their population.

Pergamon
House of the Everlasting Sun
The Divine Legion, the Theocracy's military force, is lead by Triarch Fabian of the Two Suns and Pergamon. Fabian is a human cleric who has curried the favor of not one, but two gods of the sun, Paska and Lazara. He also is the Saint-Regent, or the acting Saint before the true Saint's return to the Cometfall Throne. His legion is based in the barracks-esque city of Pergamon, nicknamed "The Northern Sun", where the temperature runs quite warm despite its altitude. This is due to the pervasiveness of astral and fire magics used in heated aqueducts which run throughout the region. All young boys in Pergamon are trained in these magics in addition to the rites of the priesthood, creating a large population of combat-ready clerics. Its central temple is known as the House of the Everlasting Sun, where clerics take shifts constantly powering an artificial star inside the temple. Pergamon also has dominion over the Northern half of the Breadbasket, the Theocracy's main food source and the most agriculturally productive land in all of Tyras.
Lady Hellene, The First Knight and Triarch of Megaris
Megaris
Megaran Nuns
Lady Hellene, an Aasimar, is unmatched in both swordplay and political reach as Triarch of Megaris. The city is an enatic society- women (and non-binary people) are the only ones to rule or inherit property in Megaris and men are not freely allowed to walk within its walls without the escort from a woman of repute. Due to its geographic location and its grandeur as a stone citadel, Megaris is both wealthy and defensible as it controls the profitable Ganymedean Pass, port access to Lake Trost, as well as the southern half of The Breadbasket. Hellene is also the mother of the current Saint-Incumbent, Eva, who has been missing during the 99th year since last Ascension.
High Cleric Nero, Triarch of Antiokheia

Undead Servants of Antiokheia
High Cleric of the Domain of Death, Father Nero commands considerable power as the human Triarch of Antiokheia. He reads the last rites of those who are to be executed by the Theocracy and has special dispensation to animate the dead after their execution. Nero and his cleric brotherhood use the dead to work construction projects, maintain intricate gardens, develop infrastructure, and commit 'exaltations' (otherwise known as punishing heretics and the wicked). Antiokheia stands as one of the few places in Tyras where undead servants are tolerated, with its lush backdrop as a foil for its undead drones.
The Comet of Theopolis
by Jin Mori
Around 1,000 years ago in the year 0 CF, Saint Ignacia refused to ascend to Godhood unlike every Saint that came before. In response, an unknown entity sent a comet hurtling towards Tyras, poised to cause global devastation. A group of heroes intervened, however, and forced Ignacia to ascend against her will, which halted the comet's trajectory and caused it to become locked above Lake Ganymede. The city of Theopolis was then constructed on top of the comet, with a throne built for future Saints to sit on, and the Cometfall Theocracy was established. The primary aim of the Theocracy is to ensure that the current cycle's Saint ascends to join its pantheon every 100 years. The Theocracy claims that Ascension brings the Saint to Godhood, though this belief has been met with skepticism by some foreign scholars. Despite this, every Saint possesses incredible power and their exploits are well documented in historical records. If a Saint is slain before their Ascension, a new Saint gains power at the moment of their conception. The Theocracy employs various levels of divination mages and clerics to identify, locate, and bring each new Saint to Theopolis before their 16th birthday. Even the non-religious Ilyena's Guildmasters view this as a necessary aspect of the natural order.
