Having gone through the grueling mutations necessary to become an Anathema, or a being of immense psionic energy, Zasz has become the serpent premier and instructs his people through the manipulation of glyphs on the Adamant Obelisk. As an Anathema, Zasz must stay in absolute isolation within a chamber of the Adamant Obelisk known as the Eye of the Desert. The room prevents the psionic influence of the Anathema from dominating the wills of their own people; an Anathema like Zasz could inadvertently cause the collapse of the Empire by merely thinking about wanting more water. A simple desire may cause every living being in the city limits to ignore all semblance of self-preservation to satisfy that will.
Unable to walk below with his people or even communicate with them outside of editing the glyphs on the Adamant Obelisk, Zasz lives a forlorn experience, constantly searching for guests who are not susceptible to his inherent mental domination. He often writes poetry and hymns in glyphs interpreted to be lamentations about solitude, which have become popular amongst the locals. There are rumors that Zasz is able to psionically visit the Traeventahl Circle of druids using magics found within the Eye, though these reports have been unconfirmed.
