As a testament to the power of cooperation, the first Yuan-Ti named their settlement Ssishasz Alpha, after the Yuan-Ti saying for 'the first joining'. It was said that from the harsh environment came the development of psionics, which allowed the serpentfolk to band together and protect one another. The first Anathema, Zeresza, cried out into the desert and called all Yuan-Ti on The Red Sands to her location with a beckon they could not refuse. After seeing their potential and her effect on them, she climbed the Adamant Obelisk and sealed herself in the room above, preventing her psionics from dominating their wills. She instead opted to pass messages through the Obelisk, where the first Yuan-Ti oracles founded the city. With a network of terracotta pipes and dozens of underground cisterns, Ssishasz Alpha is able to sustainably service the entire water needs of the megalopolis.

In the years since its founding, Ssishasz Alpha has been the seat of a successful empire, exerting its dominance over hundreds of settlements across the entirety of The Red Sands, as well as supplying water to them. No other society in Tyras is as connected as the Yuan-Ti are- their inherent nature has lead to the near elimination of crime, poverty, and homelessness.
