Latona Kidnapped: Game 31

General Summary

Latona was captured by a demon lord, The Company of the Furies: Eumenides met a new half-elf Ranger who helepd the Company slay a group of Tanarukks guards, and slew additional Tanarukks in a floating room, capturing one Tanarukk for interrogation.

Tanarukk Guards

The Company fought and killed a group of 10 Tanarukks with the assistance of a half-elf Ranger. The game session started in medias res with the Company fighting the Tanarukks who were waiting for them. A powerful archdemon captured the Ranger Latona, escaping through a gated door into hell itself. Guilhem de Quéribus valiantly chased the demon, but smartly decided not dive into hell itself to rescue her. The following treasure was found:

An 8" wide black leather baldric with a longsword scabbard attached, decorated with small golden studs. It is worth about 50 gp.
A gilded golden panther skull.
A beautifully carved piece of amber hair comb that is decorated with pearls and gold inlay. This is a beautiful piece of art and clearly not orcish in make.

Half-elf Ranger

The half-elf Ranger's name is Darragh (pronounced Dara short “a”s). The Company learned the Ranger's story and how he entered Hellgate Keep with a group of elves who were investigating the Keep's sudden destruction. Other than himself, the half-elf Ranger's entire scouting party was ambushed and slain. They were attacked in a different staircase, which was a wild magic zone. An elven mage's spell was transformed into a superpowered fireball. The half-elf escaped only because he had scouted ahead and was outside of the range of the fireball. Elves live to the south and have guarded against the demonic forces of Hellgate Keep for centuries waging intermittent battles and skirmishes. They generally protected their hills and forests against orcish armies and prevented dragons from attacking them with at least one of the great Dragon Keys. The elves powerful defense caused the denizens of the Keep to focus their attention to fighting humans, mostly those of the Nation of Galletica to the west. Only in the summer of last year (it is currently the Year of Iron 909, and the Company set off in the YR 908), the forces of Hellgate Keep sufferred a loss during an invastion into the Nation of Galletica recently during when High Queen Tegwedd is Elected at the Great Kingsmoot. The half-elf Ranger's mother is from the Brigantian tribe, which borders the dangerous lands of hobgoblins and orcs.

Ohlimbiyr's Passage

This long passage was a once-great chamber where grand carved murals depicted great feats of magic and majestic elves rise up the walls. The demons and their orc followers have marred most of the murals with filth and claw markes or blast points of magic and fire, but enough remained to give one a sense that this area was a place where magic was important. All who entered the passage leviated into the air and began floating, and the entire Company was attacked by Tanarukks armed with battle axes and bows.

Captured Tanarukk

The Company captured one Tanarukk for interrogation. They learn that he is from the Clan Hrummakkr, who are the hunters of the Tribe Hungerknives, and were patrolling the upper tunnels and former cellars of the Keep, hunting for food, and treasure and magic from the Keep's debris. The hunter clams up and stopps answering questions, demanding that the Company promise to let him live and leave in exchange for additional information.
