The Gladius Estate

Where a Legacy Still Resides

Purpose / Function

The Gladius Estate served as a gathering place for members of the Gladius bloodline, and friends to the families, it also served as the location for extravagant parties and festivals in the glory days of the past. In the more recent generations, the extra entertainment rooms were repurposed for guests to stay in, fantastical libraries of endless information, workshops for the genius' of the family, and many other purposes.
When Cantionis reclaims the Estate and begins to restore its beauty, she repurposes the ball-room for a meeting hall, the bedrooms of her siblings and parents were preserved for nostalgia, and workshops were updated with new technologies and fresh ideas.

History

The First Generations

In the first generations that owned the land where the Gladius Estate would reside there was a major trend of private entertainment houses popping up around Auferetu, and the heads of the Gladius Family wanted a part of it. So they found a nice flat patch of land that resides on the border of Middle Ground and Veritas with a steady brook along the soon to be Estate. It was here that the family set up temporary housing, mostly in the shape and style of circus tents, for friends and guests to party and enjoy themselves with the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape and acoustics for music.

The Beginning of Construction

As the first generations of the Gladius family's Estate grew older and had kids of their own, they realized that with the change of time they should start construction of their dream Estate. These generations were hardened by the work it took to level out and build the Estate from the ground up, with the plans of a double level basement, it took time just to reach back to the ground level portion of the building. And with the constant fog and light precipitation, patience and impromptu problem-solving was a learned and mastered skill for these generations. Instead of the constant huge parties they would throw a bi-weekly get together with distant relatives and close friends as a way to relax and review the progress made for future generations.

The Revered

The Revered generations would called such for the immensive respect their work earned for the family, not only were they headstrong in their task to finish their family Estate, but they did so with a sense of class that was espected to come from a family of nobles. As such, the parties and gatherings they held were up to a higher standard than previous generations, they would even test the more confident members of guests to work on a construction project as smooth and skillful as themselves. It was this impressive feat that also gave them a more profound voice in everyday struggles, and made them a regional expert to look to for solutions to problems and the more artistic side to architecture.

The Era of New Entertainment

After construction on the Estate was completed, the current residents had the time and money to explore new types of musical entertainment, and would eventually find themselves in love with the dark and extremes of art and science. The interior and party themes moved from the previous generation's intension of art nouveau-esque to a more modern gothic style, with plenty of dark furnishings and white complimentary pieces. This generation put more focus on how they looked in their parties, rather than how they acted or what they did, and it would grant them the social status that current head of the bloodline Cantionis is able to use ontop of her Paragon title to help in personal missions and connections.

The Era of Geniuses

As the party trend slowly died out, the Gladius family was able to spend more time to find what it was that interested them, as hobbies seemed too bland for their taste, the legacy of education and talent began. It was at this point in the bloodline that true geniuses were able to reach their potential in the ways of science, magic, technology, sociology, and the musical arts, which gianed them a better name with every discovered talent.

Modern Day

After all the events that devasted the Gladius family,(which won't be posted for spoilers sake), Cantionis is finally able to revisit her childhood home at the age of 23. The once glorious Estate now lays in an overgrown mass of wildlife and stone ruins. Cantionis is reconstructing and renovating parts of the Estate, but the progress is slow at best as she prefers to do all of the work by herself to best mimic the once glorious halls in her memories. The Estate is only partially lived in because of these ruins and renovation projects, but what is in use is home to close friends of Cantionis and members of Arcanus, an underground group of silent warriors who worked under Cantionis' mother, and thus, chose her as their next leader.

Music Through the Stages

The First Generations

The First Generations often enjoyed live jazz musicians as guests to their 'wild' entertainment parties where the Gladius Estate will soon stand.

The Beginning of Construction

During the first stages of actual construction, it became too dangerous to hold the huge parties that the family was famous for, and even more so to have live musicians as guests. So instead of jazz concerts, the family got used to simple chants that they would hum and sing as they worked on their families legacy. This would also be the start of a second legacy for the Gladius family line, this second legacy included musical geniuses.

The Revered

After inherited their families legacy, that of which was to build a glorious Estate for entertainment and guests, this generation had a fine-tuned skill at architecture and music. Because of this, there were many changes to the initial plan of the Estate, with more extravagant exteriors and designs, and a more calm and soothing type of acapella music.

The Era of New Entertainment

By this generation of the family bloodline, the Estate has been finished, with all sorts of unique furnishings and instruments to aid in the entertainment. Music favors in this era went from its jazzical and acapella roots down to a more extreme taste in vocalization with instrumentals.

The Era of Geniuses

After the glory days of entertainment and parties had finally died down for the Island of Tod, the family became fully invested in the ways of education, experiments, and pursuing one's interests to a mastery level. This produced several generations of geniuses all over the fields of science, magic, technology, music, and society.

The Beginning of the Triplets

When the triplets were born, the Estate housed on their parents and two aunts, because of this they grew up with the outrageous freedom to explore what they might be interested in. Arae was the eldest of the triplets, she was calm and caring and dreamt to own an orchestra and choir, Tae was the brash and impulsive middle son, and he loved the idea that one day he might command an army to glory; the youngest was Cantionis who loved her family and life that she never really bothered to think of what she would like to do in life besides to be with those she loves.

Modern Day

Cantionis has finally returned to her families' Estate, and the ruins have brought back painful memories of her childhood, which ignites a need to fill the empty halls with songs of love and life and happiness.
