Glittering Wastes

And as I stood on the rocks of Ur'Mat, I wept to see the shifting sands in the dawn light - pinks, and greens, and blues, with the great spires of glass reaching up to the vast, orange-soaked sky above. It was then that I knew my destiny, that I heard it on the breath of the desert and the song of the sand. I was a Wanderer.

Geography

The sand is various shades of greens, blues and pinks.   Water in the desert, as in many desert, is incredible scarce and the fauna and flora which survive here have developed adjustments to help them thrive in this inhospitable environment. Unlike most deserts, however, which at least have reliable seasonal springs and oases, the Glittering Wastes have entirely unpredictable water flows. This has led most species to develop exaggerated means of both finding and storing water when it is availbale. It also means that most plants have very wide ranging root systems, whilst most animals can travel long distances at speed, and communicate over long distances, in order to migrate to current areas of water.   Glass and glassicles

The quote is delightful. While this isn't completed, it shows where you are going with all of the pieces and gives tantalizing bits of details to come.

Yes, this is VERY first draft work - some of it isn't even prose yet! I used this as my "hub" article for the Copper round of the Summer Camp prompts :D   And I love using quotes in worldbuilding - it shows me the vision of where I'm going, the tone I'm going for, and what I need to worldbuild to make that work! :D

I quite like the color imagery here as well as the quote. I should definitely use quotes more often.
