Amethyst cave
The Rivell sea lies east of the Rivellian mountains, its dark purple waters are normally pretty calm but get on average two rough storms a year. The purple color comes from the large amethyst deposits under the water, with the abundance of life causing its darkened waters. On the western shore in the mountainside, behind a waterfall at sea level is a large cave entrance with shallow water in the entranceway.
Shallows and rocks
The mile away from the cave is known as the Shallow guard, the area is ankle to knee-deep water with rocks breaking the surface all over the place. This makes approaching the cave by boat impossible, though fishing is easy for the knights in the cave. This differs from the actual entrance which is a hundred-meter-radius plunge pool from the waterfall, 27 meters deep.Main cave
A large dome-shaped cave just behind the waterfall has a shallow pool of water at the entrance before rising up to a carved stone floor. Within this cave are the training facilities for young knights. A set of stone benches are on one side where instruction can be given to groups at a time. Several sets of staircases leading up leave this cavern.Watchers cave
The staircase closest to the entrance opens up to a chamber with the side exposed to the waterfall slightly open, and another larger opening high up to the side. An entrance to a stone, covered platform sits on either side of the waterfall. This room has two functions, the first is as a smithy for the forging of the knights' weapons and armor by specially trained smiths. The second is a watch post over the shallows and entrance.Quarters
The only fully carved area of the cave system is where most of the trainers and students sleep in barrack-type caves.Iti's lair
Situated directly above the main chamber with a spiral slide chamber leading up to it. This holds Iti's sleeping area as well as any horde items not currently on display in Caen. Only creatures that can fly or levitate can access this area from the main cave. A second cave entrance leads from this area out of the waterfall higher up while a second secret passage leads to the palace in Caen.Warrior's way
A pass through the mountain that leads from east of Caen to a set of stairs next to the waterfall. Most of the five day path is narrow, rocky, and treacherous, testing a warrior's strength and resolve as no rest spots, leading to harsh sleeping conditions. Warriors were also expected to make the journey alone, though it was not uncommon to pass others either resting or coming the other way. The final bit of the journey was over a narrow hundred-meter-long ledge next to the plunge pool with the waterfall pounding you from above.I'm tired, hungry, and hurt everywhere and now I'm expected to climb across a slippery ledge with water slamming me from above? F*** that, I'm swimming-Édouard Gagnier, reaching the end of the warrior's way before jumping into the plunge pool.
