North Rivellian

While this culture started as the amalgamation of Rebel Age Rivell and that of the Empire of Akoom, however after the fall of the Empire, most of Rivell entered a reemergence of its old culture. Only the Duchies of Tourlu and Cagnoy. Though during the Fey age, the east part of the county of Nordfer started to move away from the culture.

Family names

Family names are often a reference to the families origins, with noble names often having de at the start of them.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

While Rivell is the official language, it has a more celestial twang to it. Elvish and Celestial are both very common. Sylvan also is common during the Fey age.

Shared customary codes and values

Hard work and community spirit are prized above all else. It's believed the system only works if everyone does their part.

Common Dress code

While the tunics and dresses of Rivell are found in the north, the colors are very much muted and more natural. It is also common for outfits to be dominated by a heavy cloak.

Art & Architecture

Art found in Northern Rivell is often sculptures of important figures and commemorating events.

Funerary and Memorial customs

It is common for the dead to be burnt on a public pyre with offerings from friends and family at sunset one week after death.

Gender Ideals

A woman untrained in the sword can still die by one, and a man untrained in chores can still starve.
-North Rivellian proverb While it is common for males to fight and females to look after the home and children children, this is far from restrictive, with both genders expected to have a passing knowledge of both. It is common for the head male to run the land, while the head female is in charge of the family, including money and retainers.

Courtship Ideals

While it is common for couples to choose to court each other, it is expected at some point for both sides to present themselves to the head female of each household before the courting advances.
