Once a research town under the guidance of the Phervian lich
Tralden. Voiddoll was a thriving city in the shadow planes until its double sacking at the start of the slave revolts. It then became the 'resting' place for
Raviwrar forming the source for the Mire of lost souls.
Layout
The city was built around a central research complex that included Tralden's quarters, library, vault, barracks, and servant areas, all around a central chamber. Moving out of this structure the city got poorer and more slumlike. The main roads formed a ritual sigil, with the marketplaces and parks forming the points on it.
The mire has swallowed most of the city, with only the wealthiest areas and what remains of the central complex as ruins.
[H1]History
Orginal purpose
Used by Tralden in his experiments to draw energy from other planes, the city was one giant ritual spell for this purpose. This of course ended in the ritual bringing in three travelers who sacked the, now mostly dead, city.
The sackings
After the first sack that further depleted the low population, Tralden rebuilt the city as a military staging point for his new undead army to fight the growing
Shadow Republic. This proved fruitless, especially when Tralden's request for more 'soldiers' was rejected. The joint forces of
Veil and Jam-Jam sacked the city a second time, Veil leveling the majority of the city and leaving it abandoned.
Source of the Mire
After the battle of
Shadowbrook, Raviwrar crashed into the east wing of the central building. His blood mixed with magic from the open tear to the void, leading to corrupted energies spilling out into the plains, forming the Mire of lost souls, though this wouldn't be found out until the Fey age. The city remained empty to all but Raviwrar and a few wandering undead for several ages.
'Helping'
A Kobold group loyal to Raviwrar moved into the city during the late divine age, they tried to help their lord regain his strength. As the ages past the kobolds found Tralden's research and modified it to try and fully restore Raviwrar. This involved a sacrifice and powerful focus. A group of youths from the village Shadowbrook intervened and through a wish spell, shattered not only the ritual but tore open the other tears in Undinia. During the
Crisis of the Fey age, several Dragonborn brought a
Divine Elixir that had been corrupted by one to 'heal'. This lead to an undead Raviwrar that killed the Dragonborn and surviving Kobolds before leaving the ruins.
