Personal history
Phineas was born to lower middle-class parents in Ilyrium. At his Arbitrium, a Sensitive indicated that Phineas's Nature Magic was present, but weak. The Glasses decided to raise Phineas regardless of his supposed weak magic. His performance at the Academy was poor, but he managed to pass his Exams. Due to more confidence and study, he then excelled at his Institute and Athenaeum education.
During his last two years at the Institute, Phineas Apprenticed to Marina Cross and soaked up all of her knowledge. She was so impressed with Phineas that he began working at the Menagerie almost full-time before he even graduated.
Phineas is noted for his gentle nature, and humans and animals alike enjoy spending time with him.

Education
Like other children of United Britannia and Hibernia, Phineas started attending the Academy at age ten, and was then examined by the Magisterium at age fourteen. From the ages of fourteen to sixteen, he studied at the Institute, and then for the next two years attended the Athenaeum, where he apprenticed under Marina Cross during the last two years. Phineas's magic is weak in most areas, but his skills with magical animals prove to be invaluable.

Phineas is employed as a Magizoologist at the Menagerie.

Phineas has risen the ranks of magizoologists quickly because of his love for animals and his dedication to them and their research.

Phineas is Vesper Cross's best friend. They met the first day of Academy and have been best friends since then. Vesper protected Phineas from bullies as much as possible, and Phineas tended to bring out Vesper's softer side.

Phineas owns many animals that, as a magizoologist, he is allowed to keep in his home that most other witches could not. In addition, his parents live on many acres of land, so his pets are not bound to small areas. His animals include: a phoenix (Blaze), a dragon (Gregory, who is permanently on loan to the Menagerie and was a gift from Marina Cross when he finished his Apprenticeship), a wolf (Fenrir), a phantom cat (Ghost), and a unicorn (Luna).
