Feyfolk
Feyfolk is an umbrella term for all sapient species of Otherworld. While some have remained in Otherworld, others have historically visited Our World, where they have been perceived as gods, or kept themselves hidden by magic - either glamoured to appear as a human or animal, or kept invisible to the naked eye.
Since Fey is only one subgroup of Feyfolk, it is considered a misnomer by the other subgroups.
The Feyfolk are split into several species:
Àlfs are an etherial people recognized by their pointy ears and light, graceful movements. Their pale skin has a subtle glow to it. Most still reside in nomadic tribes or villages in Otherworld, living by the old ways, disinterested in technological advancement. They mainly believe that the Flow of Fate guides their actions.
Historical experiences with Alfs include the Irish myth of the Tuatha Dé Danann. Other names include: Elves, ellyllon, aes sídhe
Vettir are the humans of Otherworld. It is surmised that they are humans who once got astray in Otherworld, or that the humans of our world were vettir who settled in Our World becoming the first intelligent beings here. The Vettir include many mythological pantheons such as the aesir and the olympic gods. The vettir believe strongly in the ability to form their own Destiny.
Historical experiences with Vettir have often included their worship as godly beings arriving from the heavens.
Other names include: Immortals, gods.
The Jotunn is a very diverse species. Some are seen as very beautiful humans, while others have more monstrous appearances. It is believed that environment has a very large effect on the appearance a Jotun is born with or develops in their early years. They are generally connected with the chaotic nature of the elements.
Historical experiences with Jotun are more scarse and unknown - old fables and grim tales.
Other names include: Giants, titans, fomori
Fey is in itself an umbrella term covering a slew of beings. What connects all these beings is their naturally fixed roles in society and all-encompassing hyperfocuses (Fey Compulsion). These include beings such as banshees, sirens, nixies, gnomes, pixies etc.
Historical experiences with Fey are many, but most relate to folklore, fables and the like.
Other names include: Spirits, fay, fae
