Io (Eye-oh)
Innermost Jovian moon
You can easily tell the difference between tourists and citizens of Io, where tourists will marvel at the huge volcanoes and tides, the citizens see these as something to fear. Citizens also usually have a rather bad coughIo is the innermost Jovian moon and has a tilt of 2.2°. It has a global population of 15.2 million spread across 23 nations, with its buildings built on stilts above the ground due to the volcanic nature of the moon. Temperatures range from -130° to 650°, averaging at 26°. 82% of Io's gravity is artificially generated. Io is a populous but dangerous planemo. It receives a massively large radiation dose per day compared to Terra , but yet has a thriving population. It has an atmosphere of oxygen, nitrogen, sulphur dioxide and carbon dioxide. The moon also experiences a lot of dry weather. Water is readily available but must be filtered due to the sulphur content. 100% of Io's energy is geothermal. Its major industries include metallurgy and sulphur extraction as well as energy and radioactive material export. The planemo also has a major chemical industry. Most transportation is achieved with hovervehicles, whilst planes are also used. It is a popular tourist destination due to its volcanos and good views of Jupiter . People from Io are called Ionians and products from Io are described as Ionian. Terraformers experienced setbacks due to the volcanic nature of the moon and the high radiation dosage it receives daily.
Geography
Most of Io is either grassland, planes, savannah or desert, with wetland areas near the ocean. The land is extremely tidal and there are many volcanoes due to the gravitational pull of Jupiter and Europa, however this is significantly less than there used to be due to an artificially strenghened electromagnetic field. It has a monoclimate, although post-volcanic eruption-Io has been known to have lower temperatures and snow.
There is little height variation aside from the volcanoes. Water tides can be up to 1km high, and its land tides are up to five times as high as Terra's water tides.
Fauna & Flora
Grasses, trees. A lot of the flora can be wiped out in any given area by volcanic eruptions or radiation bursts. Io's large industry is also not always beneficial for the environment, with a lot of water vapour creating an enhanced greenhouse effect.
Natural Resources
Metal ores, sulpher in the atmosphere, radioactive materials (Uranium, Thorium).
