Dazra

Goddess of Chivalry

As goddess of chivalry and righteousness, Dazra is a beacon of honor and nobility amongst gods. She holds true to her word, opposes evil wherever she can, and defends those in need. Dazra does not take kindly to those who would take advantage of or oppress others and actively works to redeem or oppose such beings. She is depicted as a powerful and elegant woman with a stoic posture and grim determination on her face. Most depictions show her dark brown hair cut short and almost always wearing armor. It is not uncommon for her depictions to be accompanied by images of her dragon companion, Brexar.   Dazra is yet another mortal who rose to godhood through trial and tribulation. She began as a mortal enslaved by hobgoblins during the wars that eventually led to the Kergrem Empire's formation. Forced to work in the mines to fuel the ever-growing needs of the hobgoblin armies, Dazra strove to protect and aid the other slaves who toiled with her. This included her young daughter, who had been enslaved alongside her, and it was to protect her daughter that caused Dazra to retaliate against a taskmaster, ultimately killing him. As punishment for the death of the taskmaster, Dazra was handed over to a priest of Galgozaan, tortured, and ritually sacrificed to the Infernal Duke of War. Her soul was sent to Galgozaan's layer of the Hells, where she was enslaved once more until she, yet again, put herself at risk to save another. This time it was to save an angel named Anadrael, who'd been captured by Galgozaan's lieutenants with the intent to gift the angel to the Infernal Duke. However, Anadrael refused to leave without Dazra, so as he fled, he took the soul of the one who made his escape possible.   Upon Anadrael's return to the celestial realms, he pleaded with the Empyreal Lords to make Dazra into an angel as a reward for her good deeds. Eventually, the Empyreal Lords caved, granting Anadrael's request, and were not disappointed in doing so. For Dazra quickly rose through the ranks of the angels, taking the fight to evil where ever she could and defending those in need without hesitation. She even went so far as to rescue and befriend one of Yndrasa's descendants, Brexar, which earned her the respect and admiration of the draconic goddess. And it was through this friendship that Yndrasa helped raise Dazra to the ranks of godhood.   Most of Dazra's worshippers are knights, paladins, or members of some chivalric order. Many drake riders pay homage to her even if they do not openly worship her. The downtrodden and despondent will pray to her for hope, courage, and salvation. Dazra's clergy oppose evil as adamantly as she does and seeks to protect and save as many as possible from the clutches of demons, devils, or worse.   Places dedicated to the worship of Dazra vary greatly. Some are simple churches or temples to provide a place of worship and congregation, while others are built to double as small military structures where knights, paladins, and even drake riders are trained. Dazra does not believe in war for the sake of conflict but believes that you must be prepared for those who would seek to wage war on you, and this mentality is reflected in her clergy. Many of her places of worship have drill yards and barracks for the militants of her order. It is also common for them to have bunkers to provide shelter for those seeking safety.
