Iregate (/ī(-ə)r,gāt/ , "Ire-gate")
Iregate is a steadily growing metroplis located on the coast of Kefrad. It is a prosperous trade port, but this comes with some natural drawbacks. While crime is not abundant in Iregate, corruption is quite common. Port masters, guards, customs agents, and the like can all be paid off fairly easily to look the other way. Most of Iregate's citizens live by a "don't ask, don't tell" policy, leaving each other to their own devices so long as it doesn't directly interfere with their day-to-day.
Iregate currently sits in the path of a ley line which has increased the number of magic users that come to the city, thus increasing the flow of magical goods. This has also attracted a sizable population of leyline gnomes. These particular gnomes have a natural affinity for ley lines and some of them have founded a research center in Iregate dedicated to the study of ley lines and magic.
It was here, off the coast of Iregate, that Cthulhu was summoned in the year 1 TR. Much of the city was destroyed and thousands of people were killed or driven mad by the disaster. It has been just over 100 years since this event occurred and the city is still recovering. Cthulhu's influence still remains in some areas of the city and some secret circles still make prayers to the Elder God's, eldritch horrors still occasional stalk the darkest alleyways or deepest waters, and practitioners of the occult still call the city home.
Just twenty miles up the coast from Iregate is the Kefradian naval fort and academy, Fort Krakpoint. Fort Krakpoint is the largest and most decorated naval academy in Kefrad. The fort trains some of the best sailors and builds the majority of the ships that make up the Kefradian fleet. Its central location along the Kefradian coastline allows it to deploy these ships easily to the Northern and Southern most points of the kingdom.
Iregate is governed by Duke Odhran Henly II.

Guilds and Factions
- The Keepers of the Bleeding Sun: Because Iregate was ground zero for Cthulhu's emergence and the taint of the Elder Gods still lingers within the city, the Keepers of the Bleeding Sun have a strong presence here. Their members work to root out cultists, hunt down and slay any eldritch creatures, and confiscate occult artifacts to either be destroyed or locked away.
- The Leyline Development and Research (TLDR) Center: A magical research facility created by a group of leyline gnomes. It was once called "The Everything We Know and Even More We Don't Know About the Goings On In The World And Beyond Headquarters" but, after a lengthy debate some years ago it was reluctantly changed to its current name.
