Teyocah
God of the Sun
When Cthulhu tore the planar veil and forced his way into the world, his power and maddening drove the previous god of the sun, Ollitor, to madness. The sun turned blood red, bathing the sky in an ominous crimson light, and fire rained across the world. Teyocah, at the time a mortal who was one of Ollitor's most favored followers, found a way to ascend to Ollitor's realm and attempted to try to save his god by cleansing the madness that gripped him. In a tremendous feat of heroics, Teyocah succeeded in curing Ollitor's madness, but the experience was too much for the god of the sun to survive. In Ollitor's final moments of clarity, he bestowed his divinity upon Teyocah, making him the new god of the sun.
Teyocah is still growing into his new position and has much to learn. Ollitor was one of the oldest gods and was considered by many to be the leader of the deities. Teyocah inherited a tremendous amount of power which inevitably came with inheriting countless powerful enemies. Beings of darkness and ancient power that Ollitor kept from preying upon the world have started to stir, hoping the new god of the sun is weaker. Gods and other beings, such as infernal dukes, have tested the new divine leader to see if he can be manipulated or overthrown.
To his credit, Teyocah has handled the difficulties of his ascension well. He has thwarted all attempts to manipulate or probe him for weakness and has even defeated one attempt to overthrow him in combat. Charismatic and wise, Teyocah is a natural leader who knows how to utilize his allies' strengths and when to seek advice from them. He is passionate and noble-hearted, which has made dealing with certain beings difficult, but Xalla's sage advice has helped temper his zealousness.
Teyocah's followers are often warriors and healers. He is one of the most worshipped gods among the common folk. Many of his warriors seek glory in battle and nobility in their deeds. His clergy often see themselves as noble healers and caretakers of the people. Teyocah counts a large number of the Keepers of the Bleeding Sun amongst his following, many of whom are monster hunters dedicated to rooting out the corruption of the Great Old Ones. Many of Ollitor's followers converted to the worship of Teyocah after Ollitor's death.
Places dedicated to the worship of Teyocah are often pyramids or other structures that rise to a peak or plateau where his followers can feel closer to the sun. Gardens and arbors are commonly incorporated into temples or their surrounding grounds. Open chambers with skylights and networks of mirrors meant to carry the sun's light further into structures are also frequently used. Ollitor's following had strong martial traditions, which Teyocah has brought into his traditions; thus, training grounds and barracks are often incorporated into his places of worship. The Keepers of the Bleeding Sun often utilize Teyocah's temples as headquarters for their operations and to train their members.
