Generation (Ceremonial)

The people of Kanflu Empire are divided into ceremonial generations. Each generation is associated with one of the 12 Colors. Belonging to a generation is an important part of an individual's identity.
A generation starts with the sacred marriage of that generation's generational parents and ends 6 years (half a dozen) years after the parent's last pregnancy. All children born during this period are considered to form part of that generation.
Occasionally, a generation will end early due to death of one or both generational parents. When this happens, no new parents will be appointed until the previous generation comes of age. Children born during this period are a shadow generation and are not considered to belong to any generation. This is considered very unlucky.

Each generation has symbolic generational parents who are united together in sacred marriage and live in the sanctuary at The Tree .
