Generational Parents
Every generation has ceremonial parents. These are a couple who are united in sacred marriage. They live in the sanctuary at The Tree .
The parents stay in their position for as long as they can produce children. Their term ends 6 (half dozen) years after their last confirmed pregnancy.
Requirements
Individuals chosen for this role most closely match the civilization's ideal male and ideal female stereotypes. While they may be chosen earlier, they cannot begin their role before 18 (one and a half dozen) years old.

A committee of priests of the tree keep a shortlist of possible candidates as parents for the next generation. When the current parents are no longer capable of having children, the committee announce the next parents. These are taken separately to sacred places along the Great Mother and Great Father respectively for some preparation rituals. They are then taken down by river boat to the tree where they will be united in sacred marriage. Once the ceremony is complete, a new generation has started.
