Laithish
The reaches of Skarria are defined by their "walking cities", giant caravans of carriages and canvas tents that move in migratory patterns around the great lake and wilds. The Skarrians are fierce, even warlike, but also known for their eccentricity and love of merriment. They have many traditions of humorous riddles and sayings that have spread far beyond their borders. They are also known for their affinity for the unusual creatures of the Cazcus Wilds, such as the spider-like strider mounts they employ. They are defined by many familial clans who use tartans for their heraldry, and jockey with each other for recognition. Fame and fortune are high ideals for Skarria, and they are one of the most adventurous cultures in Talingarde. Skarrians prize mirth, independence, and comedy. They are believers but like the Veylish somewhat ambivalent to the Axiomatic Church as a whole, though St. Laeberik is especially favored to them.
- Ancestry: Many of the Skarrians are gnomes, but they are fond of accepting other races, especially harfoots (who build stilt houses in the bayous) and elves, a goodly amount of dwarves and quicklings who together form the more sedentary population of Skarria, and even significant populations of ogres and kobolds which are both beloved of the Skarrians, though they abhor goblins.
- Starting Languages: Low Talirean, Skarrian
- Myrcian Weapons: claymore (greatsword), composite shortbow, flail, meteor hammer, longspear. The claymore is the symbol of Skarrian pride, though many of the other weapons are designed for the fierce gnomes to compensate for their small size. They also are the only culture to use composite bows, which for them is formed partially from the flexible chitin of a particular Cazcan beast, the yew worm.
