Gemekaa is highly dedicated and focused to her work. While under ordinary circumstances this results in a strong work ethic, it can cross over into obsession where she has a hard time stopping once she puts her mind to a task. Gemekaa was born into a Starfleet family where her parents and extended releatives all served as officers on board various starships. It was celebrated when in 2371 her father was assigned to to the USS Voyager that unfortunately went missing shortly after its first launch. Gemekaa was convinced that her father was still alive and out there, somewhere, and was driven to join Starfleet and uncover the truth. In 2375 she became part of a conspiracy theory group online that was convinced that Voyager had never disappeared and was on a secret operation in the Gamma Quadrant. These peers convinced her to use her father's credentials and break into a Starfleet facility and download the Voyager files. Gemekaa was apprehended while trying to access classified documents and was given a two year probationary sentence. Her application to Starfleet Academy was rejected however in 2378 she enlisted and with the return of Voyager that year it was decided to allow her to enter Starfleet as an enlisted crewman.Starfleet Academy Class
