Davis is a young crewmen who has a lot of potential before her. She can be a refreshing spirit who is overjoyed at escaping her home town and traveling the stars but she can also suffer from pride, especially towards civilians and species not part of the Federation or Starfleet. She is highly ambitious but so far judging by her academic career she doesn't have the skills yet to achieve those ambitions and this has proven to be a constant source of friction between what station she is currently at and what station she thinks she deserves. Still so far she has been able to overcome failue and rejection and has shown a resiliency in pursuing her goals even in the face of adversity. Moreover, Sydney has exhibited impressive emotional intelligence in the way that she interacts with others on board the ship. She is congenial and well-received by colleagues, and showcases an eagerness to help where possible. Her willingness to connect with others bodes well for not just maintaining the cohesion and rapport within the team but in leveraging those connections for achieving various strategic ends which may help escape or avoid unusual situations.
However, one aspect of Sydney's personality that may be of concern is her strong propensity towards gambling. While she views it purely as a recreational activity, it has the potential to cause problems should it begin occupying too much of her mental space in higher-stress work periods — scenarios that are commonplace on starships assigned far-flung exploring missions. Biographical Overview

Davis grew up in a small agriculture commune in Norhtern Montana where between chores she was an avid reader being especially intersted in stories of interstellar adventure. Judging by notes from her teachers she had her sights set on Starfleet from a very young age however her family prioritized working on the farms over her education resulting in some critical gaps that negatively impacted her ability to be admitted into Starfleet Academy.
Instead of giving up, however, Davis chose to enlist and applied into security as she was otherwise unqualifed to enter as a technician or scientific assistant. While she didn't display any particular aptitude towards security, her drive to enter Starfleet pushed her into excellence and her bootcamp instructors have filled her report with glowing recommendations.
Her first assignment was on the USS Stalwart where she again displayed a drive that helped her excel beyond what her natural abilties would present. When the USS Stalwart went into drydock for overhaul she put in an application for the Typhon Expanse expedition and while she was rejected the first time, she re-applied and the second time she was accepted and was re-assigned to the USS Nightingale.
