Episode 9 - Feast with the Fey

A meal to remember

Faced with the enormous mansion turned foe, the party maneuvered themselves and went straight for the attack on the tongue. After a few preliminary strikes and evasions of the mimic mansions tongue, Zeke was able to move and fire a pirate ship cannon with the help of Necrid. The projectile tore through the house and the central tongue, effectively killing the mimic. The party then had to escape the crumbling mansion, dodging debris and the remaining mimics as they went. They burst out through the front door, just as the mimic mansion collapsed in on itself.   After a short time looting the remains of the house (finding Ygrae's diary and gaining context for the mimics' activities), they were approached by a wandering Elf who went by the name Jillian. She congratulated the group on their feat and invited them to follow her back to her settlement. The party were immediately suspicious of her intentions, but chose to follow her as she was their best lead on the book on Khalash. Lyra was able to stealth away from the group and follow behind at a distance. They all around at Jillian's home citadel, Feydauth Yenith, and were welcomed inside whilst being watched over by Treants. Lyra meanwhile attempt to skirt the outer walls to find her own way in. The rest of the party were then led by a pixie butler named Gullivan to the leader of Feydauth Yenith: Illiaster. This Satyr enjoyed toying with the group, offering an oppurtinity to look over the book on Khalash (as well as a fey herbology book) over dinner. They were then taken away under armed guard to some a waiting room on the other side of the citadel for them to get ready for 'dinner'.   Meanwhile, Lyra found her way up the walls into one of the upper windows. She was able to sneak around the various guards and citizens, searching for the rest of her party. She eventually reached their general area and was able to get off a message spell to communicate with them. The gang decided not to make their move yet, so Lyra stayed hidden while everyone else was escorted to the main food hall. Once they arrived in the massive hall, Illiaster engaged in some light small talk, before revealing that this was all a ruse to force them into some gladitorial combat for his amusement. As he was raised up into his observation balcony, Lyra let fly an arrow, wouding Illiaster. The walls opened up to reveal the other citizens of Feydauth Yenith, and a fight ensued. The gang battled Dryads and Centaurs in a fevered scrap, until Yedahlia managed a magic-assisted jump up to Illiaster and attacked him with a force bead. This killed Illiaster and trapped him and the books in a force orb. As Yedahlia turned to face the battlefield, she attempted to address everyone to stop the fighting. She seemed to be very persuasive, until she turned to her right to see her father Devrahlia standing beside her. He then teleported Yedahlia, Illiaster and the gang away from the fight.   The group found themselves in an extra-dimensional vault in the ethereal plane, which turned out to be guarded by a Djinn named Drift. He explained that he was guarding this vault for someone named Hati, when Devrahlia also appeared. Drift spoke briefly about his son Yasha, before Yedahlia and Devrahlia had a heated discussion the father's absence. Devrahlia explained that his absence was due to him being pursued by the Theng'Kuum, as he and his sister Vahlia both escaped their employ. Drift had pretended to lose a bet to Hati to take care of this space to hide from the Theng'Kuum's vision. Vahlia was also believed to have had a child with a Tortle that she abandoned for their safety as well (implied to be Gerb). Yedahlia accepted this and asked to have her and the group sent back to Yenithmyr. They took the books they need and were transported back to the edge of the Glynwood near Farpoint. The book on Khalash provided them with some details that helped them understand his power and motivations, while the fey herbology book provided Arcim with a little power boost. They all headed back to Farpoint, crossing paths with Captain Clarke Gabrius (whom Yedahlia dismissed with a punch), and turning in for the night.
