Land of the 5 Houses
This country is divided into 5 houses: House Cainen, House Burath, House Acram, House Durjas and House Equifeil. Over the years the houses have vied for control of Sojourn, each with differing claims to the land, ranging from birthrights to claims of conquest to simply thinking they can run the country the best. Most people are galvanized towards one house or the other, with strong desires to serve their house. People take great pride in their houses, with many homes draped in house colours and crests. Those who do not are seen as outcasts, either too apathetic to serve or not worthy for some reason or another. Conflicts have ranged from small skirmishes between 2 houses, to cold wars, territorial crusades, and on a few occasions all out 5 way war. The last 5 way war was 34 years ago, named 'The Blood War' after the sheer number of deaths. Conflicts since then have been much smaller scale, minor skirmishes and disputes over territory claims and political slights. Alliances have been known to be made as well, with every house regarding the others in a different light. The houses have had a steady peace going for the last 4 years, however tensions are simmering and the next major conflict could be imminent.
