Seasons, time to orbit

The time it takes for a planet to orbit the sun is a little over 300 Earth-years. This means the people on the planets do not measure time in years. They have days for short periods and lifetimes or generations for long periods. A woman’s cycles can be used for some time measurements. Any time measurement that pass a period of about a hundred days turns irrelevant for them. What happened in the past may be important, but exactly when is not a big question since there is no way to tell. The long orbit also means that a person can only experience one season, or one shift in seasons, during their lifetime. This is why it is hard to keep track of time pretty quick. On Earth you can remember when something happened if you can hook it on the name of the month or the season. In Väruld there is no such thing. There are no months or weeks, and years is a useless way to measure time. The reason they do know about seasons at all is due to scholars and temples where they keep records. The older generation can tell about their youth. There are also stories, but stories often becomes fairytales and not trusted truth.
