Black Forest

Geography

The Black Forest (Ursine: Ygdrwall) is a large forested mountain range in between the capital of Atrary and Ofrary. It is lined on either side by two rivers, an extension of the Walstone Beck to the West and the Rutlow Channel to the East.

Its highest point is a hill called the Feldberg with an elevation of 200 meters, hidden in the deep woods. The region is roughly oblong in shape, with a length of 240 kilometres (150 miles) and breadth of up to 120 km (75 mi),[2] occupying an area of about 18,105 km2 (11,250 square miles).

Historically, the area was known for forestry and ore deposits which led to heavy mining for some time until the The Midcomb Guard began protecting the forest from mining usage and desforestation. In recent years, tourism has become the primary industry, accounting for around 100,000 jobs. The area features several ruined military fortifications dating back to the Black Forest War.

There are many small rivers that flow through the forest that connect from underground water sources in the mines or from the hills surrounding Atrary and Ofrary.
