Armored cavalry are elite horsemen, generally recruited from houses of lesser nobility. The quality of their kit and mounts make them tough, and devastating troops on the charge or when chasing down routing enemies. Their effectiveness is greatly decreased when countered by pike formations. Heavy cavalry excels in open terrain, but is much less effective in mountains, hills, and wetlands.
