Black Quill
A range of rocky mountains located on Sandy Key in Mithlerien.
The tops of the Black Quill are mostly formed of gabbro and basalt. In comparison to basalt, which can become slippery when wet, gabbro is an igneous rock that is extremely rough, which provides excellent grip for climbers. The Black Quill's ridge might seem black, grey or brown depending on the angle of the sun, but the relative lack of sun on Sandy Key means they most often appear black. The main ridge is a narrow ridge with cliffs and scree slopes that forms the section's narrowest point. Loch Karrick is located in the heart of the range, at the center of a nine-mile-long ridge that curves in an uneven semicircle. The highest point on Sandy Key is Skirting Stair, which reaches a height of 3,255 feet.
