Gnoll

A tribal humanoid-hyena hybrid species that hunt in packs. Considered by many to be more animal than sentient creature, as they communicate with yips, howls and growls and have limited ability to reason, at least to the same level as elves, humans and dwarves they can nevertheless manage a limited amount of common and scholars do classify them as sentient given such traits as their use of tools, social structure, and ability of the more intelligent to use language.
