Wanderwood
Situated in The Feywild, the Wanderwood is a mossy, fungus-infested woodland of mixed deciduous and coniferous trees in a permanent twilight. Hundreds of heavily traveled paths snake and thread through the forest, crisscrossing the environment. Residents of the Wanderwood are well aware that the pathways are a ruse designed to entice visitors into the forest's hallucinogenic spell and keep them there. It's not unusual to see trees come to life and the colors of sunset transform into a technicolor hallucination if you spend a long time in the forest. In the minds of those who aren't paying attention, every friend becomes an enemy, and every shadow becomes a looming threat. No wonder the few fey who live in the Wanderwood are frequently driven insane by the forest's infectious magic, and the only creatures who thrive there are those labeled insane by the rest of the world.
According to Druid who have studied the Wanderwood, there appears to be an overarching awareness that binds all of it together. This consciousness, according to popular belief, is responsible for the Wanderwood's perplexing effects. Experts are still puzzled as to what caused this particular forest to evolve in this manner while other forests did not. Druid and archdruids have attempted, with little degree of success, to communicate with the Wanderwood entity, but its existence is undeniable to anyone who has ventured into the woods to investigate.
Those who have trekked into the Wanderwood have reported uneasy feelings of being watched and hearing faint muttering, always seemingly just out of their earshot. The many paths in the forest are intentionally designed to confuse and deceive those who walk through them, and the forest is actively working to do so. The forest eats up any markers or other attempts to aid in navigation, either by accelerating the deterioration of the forest's vegetation or by bending and manipulating the branches of the trees.
