The Feywild
The Feywild is more of a "echo" of the Material Plane infused with powerful magic than a true extraplanar world. In the aftermath of Nivian's near-destruction of the elves and Bulir's The Infernal War, the fey constructed it and exiled themselves from the rest of Valine for their own protection.
The Feywild is a breathtakingly beautiful environment. It is constantly bathed in the twilight of the setting (or rising) sun, with lanterns and fireflies adding to the eerie glow. The Feywild's topography, being a "echo" of the Material Plane, is comparable but not identical to Valine's, but the natural scenery is far more dramatic and beautiful, with mountains standing straighter and sharper, rivers flowing clearer and faster, and flowers blossoming brighter and more fragrantly. While most Prime landmarks and locales have Feywild counterparts, sites of civilization in the Prime may be so inconsequential in the Feywild that they are easily overlooked. Natural landmarks, on the other hand, may be far more spectacular or extreme. The fact that distances did not always make sense added to the difficulty of navigating the Feywild. Upon traveling in one direction, two landmarks may be the same distance apart as in the Prime, but when returning, they may be mysteriously further or closer.
The fact that time does not move the same in the Feywild as it does on the Material Plane further complicates any journey to the plane. While any visitor perceives time to flow normally, it is frequently the case that more time passes in the Material Plane than expected, perhaps by weeks, months, or years, yet it is also possible that little or no time has gone. Leaving the Feywild, on the other hand, can have disastrous effects. A mortal's lost time might suddenly "catch up" with them, causing tiredness or hunger, or even killing them if many years have elapsed. Those without fey lineage, on the other hand, may find their recollections of time spent in the Feywild becoming foggy, if not completely gone.
Arcane magic flows more freely and strongly in the Feywild than it does in the Material Plane, which is why so many of its residents and monuments are enchanted. All physical and emotional feelings are heightened for visitors aboard the aircraft. Smells are stronger, colors are brighter, and sounds are clearer, yet shadows are darker, and urges are more difficult to control. Arcane spells tend to be increased in power or duration when cast in the Feywild as a result of this all-encompassing magic.
Though most of the Feywild is geographically similar to the Prime, there are variances, and the regions are subject to other energies than those on Valine. Though their kin on the Material Plane have moved on, several early elf civilizations still have roots here, and parts of their culture pervade the area. Despite the fact that the elves have all but abandoned the Feywild, some elves remain, most notably the sylvan, who have powerful kingdoms and citadels. Some significant elven towns and communities are situated where the realms' barriers are exceptionally thin, allowing them to dwell in both the Material Plane and the Feywild at the same time.
Some parts of the Feywild are said to tune in to the most powerful monster around, whether fey or not. Everything from the weather to the environment changes to reflect the creature's feeling or attitude, with everything from the weather to the scenery altering to be more dreary, tranquil, or hazardous as best suits the creature's mood. A creature, on the other hand, cannot have direct or conscious influence over their domain.
In the Feywild, the Underwild is an echo of Valine's Undervale . With enormous maze-like tunnels filled with exotic fungus, it is more grand and weird than its natural equivalent, as are most places of the Feywild. It is mostly populated by Fomorian, with Shantry Nalow, the most powerful of the Fomorian realms, standing within a country-sized cavern lighted by valuable jewels and stones. The Fomorian Queen Esmé is the ruler of this realm.
