Mo'Dai, The Chronomancer

Master Mo'Dai

A member of the powerful High Council of The Grand Arcaneum of Vallanna, Mo'Dai is the keeper of the most dangerous magics of all - time magics.
In addition to his membership of the High Council, Mo'Dai is also a member of the secretive order within the Arcaneum, known as The Circle of Arcane Harmony.
Unlike most members of the High Council, little is known of Mo'Dai's personal history; a fact that he seems very proud of. Perhaps the most secretive of the council members, Mo'Dai is known to keep mostly to himself and to his research.
During her final year of studies at the Arcaneum, Mo'dai unexpectedly took on Elys Enarren, grand-daughter of King Aegic Enarren, as an apprentice. This was notable for being not only the first time in many years that a member of the High Council had taken a direct apprentice, but also as the only known occurance of Mo'dai himself taking an apprentice at all.
As a master, Elys found Mo'dai something of an enigma. His lessons to her were, by and large, unrelated to his position as the Arcaneum's Chronomancer, and rather than having a close working relationship, Mo'dai would often send Elys alone on assignments with little explanation as to why she was being sent or what she would be expected to do upon arrival. Invariably however, these assignments would lead to valuable insights for Elys; if not always of a magical nature. On many of these assignments, Elys' appearance would seem to subtly have an influence upon unfolding events. Mo'dai seldom explained any of his reasoning for this, but would invariably be pleased at the outcome.
In the summer of 1307, Mo'Dai was ambushed in the village of Wildmeadow by members of The Cult of the Bleeding Eye, intent on stealing from him The Eye of Moments. In the struggle, The Eye of Moments was struck by an errant Witchbolt spell, causing it to act unpredictably - encasing the village in a time-dilation field, within which time passed slower the closer to the Eye that a person was. As well as the time-dilation field, ribbons of pure time energy moved throughout the village, causing the deaths of almost all of the village's inhabitants.
As a result of the effects of The Eye of Moments during this event, Mo'Dai passed away; but not before seeing his apprentice Elys make the Eye safe once again, and with a smile on his lips, express his pleasure at seeing the wizard Pronce, before dying, leaving more questions than answers.
