Forest of Kalenthia

The Forest of Kalenthia is a vast, dense woodland that spans nearly the entirety of the southern half of the continent of Eleron. It is a land of ancient trees and ancient secrets. It is said that the elven race originated from deep within the Forest of Kalenthia. Relics and ruins from a time long past can be found scattered through the woodlands. The wood elves of Kos Ralthas make their homes here, shaping cities out of the trees themselves. Bridges of branches weave together to connect tree to tree, forming an elaborate web of tree houses where the elves live. These elves reject the worship of the gods, choosing instead to devote themselves to the Archfey of the Feywild, from whom the wood elves claim they are descended.
In the center of the forest, a particular tree, known to the elves as the Tree of Eons, has grown to immense size over time, dwarfing all other trees of the forest. As recently as 27 years ago, a new species of lifeform emerged from within this tree. These creatures, made entirely of plant material, came to be known as Sylvari, and now reside within the forest alongside the elves.
Along with the emergence of the Sylvari came the coming of the Wither. Originating from a part of the forest now known as the Withered Glade, The Wither is a disease or corruption that infects the trees and perverts the creatures of the forest. There is a group of Withered Sylvari, the Nightmare Court, who seek to spread the Wither to the entirety of Kalenthia.
