City of the Ancients

The City of the Ancients is a recently rediscovered ruin from the times of the Ancient sorcerers. Not much is known about the city though archaeological exploration is being done to discover more.

Demographics

It is believed to have been the home of the relatively unknown Ancients. If any others, and who they might have been, that called the city home is unknown.

Government

The only name thatg has been found in conection to leadership within the city is Zerachiel Vretiel, the man who supposedly led the last stand and closed the rift to The Void. Despite this the most that can be found about him is that he was an incredibly powerful mage and that he was reveered by his people. In fact a statue of his likeness has been discovered in the ruins almost entirely entact. His is not the only likeness that has been found however, but his is the only one whose name has been confirmed.

History

While the history of the city and even of it's people is largely a mystery, the archiological discoveries have led to far better understanding of some things. Such as the knowledge that the old magics' are what brought about the downfall of the entire civilization. Several grimoires have been found as well as pieces of text that describe life in the city as having relied on magic almost exclusively for everything. The city appears to have been built with magic and for the research and continuation of magical affairs. Daily life was aided greately in the use of magics, most of which are long lost and the texts that have been found do not expalin them, and seemed to hinge on magical ability.

Geography

The ruins are of the city are located in the rocky, cold expanse known as the Nothern Wastes, a desolate area where not much can survive. It is thought that the lack of life in the area has more to do with the scorched ground of ancient battlefields than due to the climate.
