Statue of Zerachiel Vretiel

A statue found of the most historically renowned Ancients known in current times. Also, an ancestor of the Vretiel triplets who are held in high regard by the Emperor.

Purpose / Function

The exact purpose is unknown but it is believed to have been made to honor the man whose likeness it is. Despite this not much in known about his status within the city or people as a whole, a fact that people are desperately looking to find out.

Architecture

The Statue itself is made of finly carved white marble. The detail of the piece is incredibly life like, almost as if the took a living person and dipped them into marble to create it. A truly awe inspiring piece. In fact the entire monument seems to exude the essence of life. The base is made of granite and looks like a chunk of ground splintered up as he overlooks something contently.

History

Zerachiel Vretiel is a name that keeps popping up through the exploration and rediscovery of the Ancients and the recently rediscovered City of the Ancients. He seems to have been a very influential man from what has been found and perhaps even a leader. It is known that he led the last stand of the Ancients that sealed the rift in The Void that they created. He is also known to be an ancestor to the Variseans family of the same name.

Tourism

Since it's rediscovery the statue has been moved to the Imperial Museum in Etherian for safe keeping. Many scholars come from around the empire to see the gorgeous testement of the ancient world. Though it leaves a great many feeling just as unnerved as it does in awe. A truly odd masterpiece that many wonder at the creation of and just who Zerachiel Vretiel was.

I immediately went to 'Stone Shape victim' in my head, but the prose dances around that point with such subtlety I had to go back and read it again. Love this!
