Session 0.1 - A Humble Introduction Report

General Summary

This session marked the start of a new campaign, styled after a West Marshes campaign. It began on the 10th day of the 3rd month at the Lonely Joke Inn in the bustling city of Arcanis. The inn is a popular spot among local gladiators, and it is owned by our first PC, Darren Charming. During this session, we got to witness the daily routine of running the inn, including his interactions with patrons such as the gladiator Polidoxus, and employees such as his closest friend and assistant manager, Dorlean Salters. Our next PC, Señor Weeblewobble, was also introduced as a sous-chef in the inn's kitchen, in addition to being a mercenary.
Later on, Governor-General Nikolai Vasilovich of the Rightful Yellow Empire met with his friend and ally, the Duchess Ireena Devanya, in the city's residential district. Nikolai's responsibilities include overseeing the North Empire Shipping Company, an organization that distributes crossbows and is the only distributor of the volatile arcane material Slatish in the continent of Prehera. Ireena informed Nikolai that a ship in the Arthurian Navy, the HMS Arrowhead, was destroyed, and Slatish was involved.
Nikolai decided he would investigate the company's records for any potential missing Slatish and sought the help of Darren, whom he knew from previous work. Impressed with Señor's combat skills and receiving a commendation from Darren, Nikolai also offered Señor employment. The group chartered a ship for a week's time to travel to an island north of Ourona, where the North Empire Shipping Company's centre of operations, Fortress Blank, is located.
