History
Everflame College was originally founded in -1847 by three scholars traveling the Coast Road in search of immortal artifacts and ruins, when they discovered the Everflame Spire and were drawn to its power by whispers from the surrounding depths. The scholars returned to their respective capital cities, requisitioning funds and labor to build an establishment for study. In time, the college was built and academic representatives and hopeful apprentices took up residence in the hopes of discovering new secrets of the arcane. A large tower was constructed around the Everflame Spire, fashioned into a lighthouse, and served to draw seaborn travelers to the area and settle the town of Tidewatch. Everflame College grew to great prominence during the Age of Splendor. Accomplished members of the institution were given the official title of Tidescholar. The Tidescholars were highly sought after by powerful organizations for the ability to greatly influence maritime travel. The college tried to maintain political neutrality, refusing any contracts that demanded allegiance or exclusion of any kind, simply respecting the power of good trade. During the Age of Shadow, Everflame College, in partnership with Tidewatch, served as a sanctuary for many refugees and victims of Abaddon's campaign of oppression. The powerful Tideshapers managed to create an underwater sanctuary off the coast of Tidewatch in order to remain hidden. Unfortunately, when the Spellstone of Sagaria was destroyed, the resulting Spelldeath led to the underwater haven being flooded and the college being consumed by a cascade of arcane explosions. Seventy-eight years following the end of the Spelldeath, Magna Ferry, a shipwrecked survivor of a deadly storm in the White Sea, sought safety under the Everflame Spire. Sheltered on the rocky island beneath the flame's gentle warmth, she could hear the whispers from the depths promising a glorious new life in return for her devoted service, which she readily accepted. Her devotion to the depths stoked the weak flame of the spire into a brilliant beacon that attracted distant sailors, who she folded into her cause. A small settlement grew around the spire and Magna named it Tidewatch in honor of legendary tales of the great seaside town, unaware she was recreating the very same. Over time, Magna's influence grew over Tidewatch and she was able to organize the restoration of the Everflame College. Magna declared herself Lord Scholar of Tidewatch and ruled both the college and town from the great flaming spire of Everflame College. Magna further isolated the college by orchestrating a treaty with Jorundhamn for their independence in return for service during times of war. Today, Everflame College is run by Maer Atwater, who further organized the studies into specific fields and talents.Ranks and Organization
