The leadership of the Osmad Sultanate's military is the Master General. Second in political power to the Sultan/Sultana, the Master General requires someone of strong character and a sense of responsibility. Few individuals are worthy of such a rank, but Arjhan Bahar is definitely among those that are.
While dragonborn aren't particularly rare in Bekilk, to have one in such a position was practically unheard of until recently. Even for Arjhan, his appointment as Master General was a surprise since he came from a much simpler, common lifestyle - on top of being a dragonborn with blue scales. Despite this, he takes the job as seriously as anything else in his life, not just because he has a lot to live up to, but because he would never betray the Sultana's faith she put in him when she appointed him for the job.

Personal history
Arjhan lived a fairly simple life outside of Bekilk in a farmhouse, with his mother and father, his grandmother, and his younger brother Ghesh. Unfortunately life on the outskirts is dangerous, and their farmhouse was hit by a violent Flaywind. Bandits from the Badlands used the storm as cover, and attacked their home. His parents sacrificed their lives to ensure their family was safe; in the end, Arjhan, his brother, and grandmother survived.
Arjhan and his brother took the loss in different ways. Arjhan blamed himself for not being strong enough to help his parents. Ghesh blamed it on the lack of action from the Sultanate that left them defenseless. The brothers would argue over politics for days while their grandmother's health began to decline. Rashly, Arjhan decided to leave to save his relationship with his brother and headed into Bekilk to join up with the military. In his mind, he joined to stop that what happened to him from happening to others.
Arjhan's determination and strength earned him the admiration of his superiors, and he quickly rose the ranks. He fell in love with a human woman and adopted a child together. In no time, Arjhan was living happily in a family as a high ranking officer. He all but forgot about his brother and his grandmother. Around this time, Master General Amar Nassaire was looking for a potential replacement, after being encouraged to retire by the Sultana. Arjhan and Nassaire were good friends and both respected each other. Naturally, Nassaire asked the Sultana to consider Arjhan as the next Master general. After careful consideration (as well as an incognito investigation), Sultana Nala decided that Arjhan would make a fine successor, and summoned him to the Ivory Palace to appoint him.
Arjhan was humbled to accept. He did not think himself worthy of the position, but if the Sultana thinks so, then he would not let her down. It's only been a few months now, yet Arjhan has quickly gained the Sultana's trust as he stands by her side.
